About Me

I was born and raised in a small Northern Ontario town called Kapuskasing. In my twenties, I moved to Ottawa, Ontario and later crossed the river to reside in Gatineau, Quebec {Aylmer to be precise} where we bought our first home. In 2011, my husband and I made the drastic decision to return to our home town of Kapuskasing. And we have been happily living here since!

I have always loved decorating. I actually have a certificate in interior decorating which to date has only served me. I have an awesome {patient} husband who basically gives me carte-blanche when it comes to decorating our home. I've recently discovered my interest in taking old pieces of furniture and DIY-ing them into fabulousnous! I also love being organized which in itself can be difficult at times.

I am the mother of two wonderful sons: the oldest Nicholas {or Nico as he is most often referred to} who was born in July of 2008, and Luca was born in December 2011.

And the wife of a wonderful husband, Jon, who has put up with me supported my interests and hobbies since 2003 {Wow! that's a long time!}. We were married in August 2010 {see pics of our wedding here}.

So this is my family!
Jon, Mylène {me} Nicholas {almost 5 years old} and Luca {19 months old}
We purchased our first house {a small, semi-detached 1100 sq. ft. bungalow} in June 2008 just prior to Nico's arrival.
We purchased our second home {which I hope is our "forever" home} in the spring of 2012. We renovated most of the main floor before moving in that summer.

It has changed quite a bit since this first picture! Check out the "Befores & Afters" here!

I am slowly making this house into our home, one room or accessory at a time. I must add, I don't think we ever fully feel satisfied with how our decor looks... Is any room ever really finished? Not in my book! Wouldn't THAT be boring? Luckily for Jon, I am a little handy and do most of the stuff myself. Of course, unless I need his 6' 2" height to help my vertically challenged 5' 2" self to hang stuff in awkward areas.

But beautifying and transforming ones' home is definitely a journey. I may fail or I may succeed without a hitch, but I never give up on my visions, and I am having fun every step of the way!
